What others say about BASt

Unfortunately, with a new website some things are also lost.
Here are some quotes from previous reviews by satisfied users.

About the Long Grind XL

French:

"A great alternative to the original 'Long Grind'. The print is dimensionally stable and the ABS material slides much better over the guide pin than the original steel spacer of the 'fingernail' attachment. The extra hole gives more possibilities. It is important to keep everything clean. Plastic remains soft and grinding remains sharp, but that applies even more to the metal originals, where I had problems with 'fretting' much faster."

Peter Peer:

"This Long Grind XL is a great handy tool for sharpening the shell turning gouges that I use. These have a different angle (55 degrees or 60 degrees) than possible with the standard supplied steel block. This version is made of sturdy plastic and lasts a long time, even with very intensive use."

About the Grinding Jigs

Johan:

"I had some reservations at first, but this grinding attachment actually works better than the original. It's a piece of cake with this. Create more things like this and we'll be grateful."

Peter Peer:

"This is a super handy sharpening jig! Specially made to sharpen scrapers or skew chisels to the right angle for dovetails. I use the small skew chisel from Sorby for this (number 864H, 6 mm). Bas made this jig with an excellent fit for the ProEdge."

French:

"Great little tool that allowed me to sharpen an old flat chisel into a handy scraper, and keep the scraper sharp to size. The ABS material slides smoothly through the slot in the table."

About custom work

Ruben:

"Very happy with the result! Nice that you also kept us informed of the progress during production! We will definitely come back to you for other matters."

Menno:

"Robust and stylish. Ideal if you read a lot."

Rob:

"This is one of those products that you should have bought earlier. I use it every day at breakfast to read the news. Previously it was always fiddly to put your reader on something so that it was slanted enough to read but this solves that problem in one go. The finish is perfect. There is cork on the bottom and in the 'slot' for your reader to make sure that nothing gets damaged when you use it. The slot is wide enough for different readers."
